Parent Task Force

The purpose of the Parent Task Force will be to provide a networking opportunity to parents so that they might begin working together to impact a change in the culture of underage drinking in Owen County.


Youth Task Force

The purpose of the Youth Task Force will be to develop no-alcohol events and activities in Owen County as well as to develop no-drinking messages to be distributed to Owen County youth. This task force will partner with the Owen 20/20 Recreational Task Force to develop future events and activities for the community. This task force will also look at ways to increase youth leadership opportunities in the county.

Law Enforcement Task Force

The purpose of the Law Enforcement Task Force is to work with local law enforcement officials – police, court system, etc. – to begin changing the perception that all youth aren’t treated equally when found to be drinking. Will also build support for law enforcement officials to enforce alcohol laws in the community.

Advocacy Task Force

The purpose of the Advocacy Task Force is to look at school policies and community ordinances and resolutions to ensure they are as strong as possible to promote the idea that Owen County will be alcohol free for the community’s youth.


Procedures/Meeting Times

The steering committee of the Owen County Teen Alcohol Prevention Project currently meets the second Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. The date and time is subject to change based on the needs of the majority of members of the committee.

Full meetings of the coalition will be held quarterly at a place and time to be determined in the future. Each member of the coalition is expected to serve on at least one task force.

Task forces should meet at least once monthly, with a place and time to be determined by the majority of the task force members. Depending on the size of the group, meeting space is available at the project office at 155 W. Seminary Street, Owenton. Call the coordinator at 484-8539 to reserve the meeting room.

The chairman of each of the task forces will become members of the steering committee and will report at monthly meetings the work of their task force.
